OJIBWAY: “Anishinabe” – ”Original People,” “Original Man.” One of the Algonquin tribes. A part of the large language group of Native North Americans known as the Algonquin family. The Alonquin language was the most widespread native language group in North America.
CREE: One of North America’s largest tribal groups. The Cree occupied more land than any other Native American group. They occupied most of southern Canada east of the Rocky Mountains and extended into the US. They extended from the rocky Mountains to the Atlantic ocean.
MICMAC: The dominant tribe in the Canadian Maritimes, including Nova Scotia, the Gaspe’ Peninsula in Quebec, Prince Edward Island, eastern New Brunswick and southwestern Newfoundland.
CHEROKEE: Original homelands were the southern Appalachian Mountains. This included western North and South Carolina, northern Georgia and Alabama, southwest Virginia, and the Cumberland Basin of Tennessee, Kentucky, and northern Alabama.
